NHS England
NHS England provides national leadership for the NHS. It promotes high quality health and care for all, and supports NHS organisations to work in partnership to deliver better outcomes for our patients and communities.
Integrated care systems
Integrated care systems (ICSs) are partnerships of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services, and to improve the lives of people who live and work in their area. There are 42 ICSs across England.
NHS acute or foundation trusts
NHS acute or foundation trusts provide the hospital, out-patient and other services to meet local population needs. There are also specialist trusts that offer discrete services for specific conditions or members of the public eg orthopaedic or children's services.
Ambulance trusts
Ambulance trusts provide respond to 999 calls to provide emergency health services, transport patients, and provide out-of-hours care in some areas.
Community and mental health trusts
Community trusts provide a range of services that mean people can be treated in their local community or at home. Mental health trusts offer services to support people with mental health problems.
Local primary care services
Local primary care services are provided through GP practices, dental practices, pharmacists and opticians.

NHS 111 is responsible for providing healthcare advice and information 24 hours a day via the internet and over the telephone.
